Privacy: Bill strips student, teacher online privacy [EB Times, 3/9/17]: In 2015 Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that prohibited California police and other state agencies from searching our phones and online accounts without our consent, a court order, or showing it is an emergency. 

International Law, Citizenship and Immigration [TOPIC 40-42]

Wisconsin federal judge blocks application of revised Trump immigration order [Jurist, 3/11/17]: A federal judge for the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin granted a temporary restraining order against President Donald Trump's revised immigration ban on Friday to a Syrian asylum seeker and his family. 

ACLU Files Class Action Over SoCal Immigrant Detentions [CNS, 3/10/17]: San Diego’s chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union filed a class action lawsuit in federal court claiming immigrants being held in local detention centers for months on end are denied their due process rights. According to the ACLU, the long detentions result from delays in initial immigration hearings.
