7th Circuit Refuses En Banc in Both WI Voter ID Cases; No More Changes Unless #SCOTUS Intervenes [Election Law blog / CNN, 8/26/16]: A unanimous 7th Circuit issued this order en banc refusing to place the affidavit requirement to soften voter id back into effect at this point, and rejecting the other cross appeals. This would leave only the Supreme Court as a place to go to appeal, and relief there seems quite unlikely.

Selfies in voting booths: Depending on where you live, they may be illegal [ARS Technica, 8/28/16]: A New Hampshire law says selfie ban is needed to curtail vote buying and coercion.

Trump plans detailed immigration talk as questions remain [AP, 8/29/16]: Donald Trump says he'll deliver a detailed speech on his proposal to crack down on illegal immigration on Wednesday in Arizona — but it's anyone's guess what he might say.

Almost 200 proposed laws await governor’s OK — or not [SF Chron, 8/28/16]: The fate of hundreds of bills will be decided by Wednesday, when state lawmakers wrap up their two-year session. There are already nearly 200 bills on Gov. Jerry Brown’s desk, including legislation to eliminate the statute of limitation on rape prosecutions, limit the use of solitary confinement at juvenile detention facilities, and eliminate sales tax on tampons and other feminine hygiene products.
