suppliers between the regulatory reach of the federal government and that
of the states has long been blurred, but no more so than in recent years, with
a shift to giant regional markets using very arcane mechanisms on pricing
and supplies that seem to affect everyone in the industry. The states
have grown fearful that the dividing line is now shifting more to the
federal side — and, so it did, about three weeks ago in a Supreme Court
decision.

in Employment Div. v. Smith,
in which Justice Scalia wrote for the majority holding that a law is
constitutional under the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment if it is
facially neutral and generally applied.

2/17/16]: Apple CEO Tim Cook says he will fight a federal judge's order to help
the FBI unlock San Bernardino terrorist Syed Farook's iPhone 5, calling a
request to build a backdoor into its operating system "too dangerous to
create."
