How Gay Marriage's Triumph Could Protect Abortion Rights [David H. Gans in The New Republic, 1/7/16]: The Supreme Court's interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment may play a role in its biggest abortion case in decades. The case will be argued March 2.
Keep up to date regarding Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole:

The Supreme Court and a Life Barely Lived [Linda Greenhouse in the NY Times, 1/7/16]: Ms. Greenhouse reflects on the DeShaney v. Winnebago County (1976) case upon the death of Joshua Braam. The case is covered in the student textbook at Problem 13.14.

III. The Political System: Voting and Campaigns [See TOPICS 16-20 in the 5th edition of Constitutional Law] Here are some recent articles that are relevant to this unit:

Calbuzz: How the Right Has Exploited Immigration for 80 Years [CalBuzz, 1/7/16]: “They keep coming,” the advertisement’s narrator intoned, while the screen showed footage of undocumented immigrants scurrying across a highway. The year was 1994, and the ad was the centerpiece of California Republican Governor Pete Wilson’s re-election campaign.
