Kevin McCarthy’s fast track [Capitol Weekly, 9/26/15]:  California’s Kevin McCarthy is on track to become the next speaker of the House. If it happens, the affable Republican will achieve one of the fastest ascents in House history — or California political history, for that matter. He would be the second House speaker from California. The other is San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi.

School uniforms -- the answer to free speech issues at high schools [Wash Post online, 9/26/15]: The federal judiciary does many things well. Writing high school dress codes is not one of them.

China and the United States: A 21st-Century View [Newseum, 9/25/15]: On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, the Newseum Institute presented a panel discussion on the political, economic and social ties between the U.S. and China, with a focus on the use of diplomacy and other means to support freedom of expression and religious liberty around the world.

UN: no short-term end to refugee crisis in Europe [Jurist, 9/26/15]: The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Friday announced that the flow of refugees into Europe shows no signs of easing or stopping, as approximately 8,000 refugees a day seek to enter Europe.
