Reporters arrested while covering protests in
Missouri [1st Amend. Coalition,
8/15/14]: Police arrested two reporters, later released, from the
Huffington Post and The Washington Post after a confrontation in McDonalds
during the protest over the shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed young black
man in Ferguson, Kansas.
Now may be the moment… [Concurring Opinions, 8/14/14]: In
light of recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, that admonition seems as
relevant today as it was when it was when it appeared on March 29, 1960 in a New York Times political advertisement directed at the Montgomery, Alabama
police. Of course, it was that advertisement that gave rise to the celebrated
ruling in New York Times Co. v. Sullivan (1964).
